Sorry about this, but after posting this, I found a thread that describes how to do it.

 

Be careful when removing them as the tabs on these can break pretty easy and unbroken assemblies go for a premium $ for just that reason

 

thank you for the heads up, they are wrecking an S-type near my place and I want to get the two taillights, in case I have to replace mine. I will be careful, are there special tools to bend the clips or do I just use rubber pliers?
