Default How many miles is too much?

So, I must let you guys know that I am a girl, so I may be around this board asking dumb questions. lol.

My 01 is currently around 110k mi.

When should this car in general retire?

Is that considered really old already?

At what mileage should I be super concerned about it starting to just deteriorate and breaking down???

I generally sell my vehicles right before they hit 100k. The car loses a good amount of resale the day it hits 6 figures. But with that being said you are already past my keep date, if your happy with it, keep it on the road. If its paid off buy a another and throw that one in the garage and make it the grocerygetter and the movie monster. Just think of all the door dings you will save on the new one!

You know, in other countries it does not matter what mileage you have on a car. As long as it is running smoothly that is all you should be concerned with. I have a 1998 Honda Accord with 201K and it still runsexcellent. Of course a person's financial position has alot to do with it. If you can afford to upgrade, retire your car now.Otherwise "drive your car into the ground" BTW 110K is not that many miles.

My 2000 S type has 133k on it, but the tranny was changed at 75k and many parts replaced over the course of those miles.

Hey tickle...........there's a thread somewhere on an X that covered around 350k in about 3-4 years and was still going strong with regular maintenance....that being the key.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring/...23/mfjag23.xml

As an ex Area Sales Manager I used to regularly get a new car to keep for 3 years and put in the region of 150k - 160k on them, albeit diesel Ford Mondeos.
110K isn't that much really, not in todays terms on todays vehicles if they're maintained.
