How many miles are on your S?
I have a 2003 STR.... Best car I have ever owned and I have had some good ones. I have 132K with very few problems. Had my mechanic give it a close look a couple of weeks ago and he was surprised at how good of shape it was in. I do need the DCCV replaced and probably the ECM. Missing the A/C for the most part. I had a transmission drain at 120K as it was acting up a bit. No problems since then.
Love my car and plan to stay with Jag in the future.

Your right I need to drive it more, but it's garaged and the weather here never freezes or gets humid and it's never been driven in the rain. I keep the oil changed regularly. I do need to change the coolant and transmission fluid though, they look new, but they are still 12 years old.
Have 59,000 on my 2003 S-Type 4.2, purchased new. Had a fuel pump replaced when under warranty. Also replaced the climate control variable speed fan and rear shocks (left rear leaked). Engine, transmission and other electronics have been perfect. Love the car.
Wow, I thought I may be the lowest but you had 4 more years and only 1500 more miles. I'm at 11400 on my 97 4.2 and counting so should pass you in a couple months.
Just crossed 112k miles today. Had the car over seven years now, and still having difficulty finding a suitable replacement. The Infiniti FX50S I just got comes close, but still miles apart from the Jag's abilities.
Just purchased a 2000 S-type V8 with 53.4K miles.
Driving home I felt it missing and after about 80miles, check engine
light turned on. Made it to one of my favorite restaurants and plugged in the scanner. Misfire cylinder #8. Ate some beef ribs and drove 50 more miles to my home. Let her cool down. Swapped coils #7 with #8 and still missing. I'm a fan of rockauto.com but don't have the time to wait and purchased eight NGK Iridium IX. Inspected the spark plugs (NGK Iridium R) and they had some rust build up between the ceramic piece and metal. Installed the new set and she purrs like a kitten! I've loved the modern S-type ever since '99.

My wife decided last fall she's done with SUV's (plus I have a van) so we sold our '03 Aviator with 180k and found an '04 S-type 3.0L with 91k.
Had a trans leak which required an immediate fluid/pan replacement and haven't had any issues since.
It now has just short of 99k.
We've really enjoyed it so far. It has some dings on the corners from previous owners, but I just hand washed it over the weekend and really stands out. Doors and panels are nearly flawless.

I've got 66,000 miles on mine now and it's doing good. Today I ran into someone, not literally, who has a 2003 S Type base 4.2 model and he told me it has well over 200,000 miles with no leaks and no real problems. It looks good too. He told me that mine should be good for another ten years, I hope so.
