Default how to re-attached light bulb clip

2004 S-TYPE, 3.0, Base model,
I removed the retaining clip to replace a blown low-beam bulb. Very easy. I am having extreme difficult attempting to re-attached the retaining clip. Is there a proper procedure or maneuver I should be aware. I can't get the wire ends (open side) securely in place.. Thanks for any instructions on how to ease my pain. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

Is it the correct bulb and is it fully in position?

The proper procedure would have been not to remove the clip in the first place.
It is almost impossible to reattach. Maybe a good gynecologist can help.

I had a clip come off while I was fitting LED bulbs. No matter what I tried (and I am not a gynaecologist....) I ended up removing the bumper, taking out the headlight and putting the clip back in. Approximately 2 hours to remove and replace bumper and headlight (had problems with the undertray to bumper screws/clips which were seized) 2 minutes to put the clip back in once I could see what I was doing and had unlimited space to work in!

If it is on the side where the air filter is, removing the filter box might help.
