I learned something from the dealer yesterday.
I went to Alpine Jaguar to get a spare key cut and programmed. While there the service tech had some time so he told me things about my car. Like when you get on the gas to push with your toe first, push the top of the pedal hard and all the way down and you will engage the switch that makes the transmission shift quicker. It works! They also told me the exhaust is not stock and they think I picked up about 10 HP at the wheels. Seems like a low pick up for that though.
+1 there is no such switch (you can check in the electrical guide and by looking under the pedal)
However, just pressing quickly & fully makes the PCM aware what you want and it does all the right things (WOT - see my sig).

An STR is a bit of an animal, though!
The cars that are now around with 600+HP must be awesome.

Sure I did prior to him telling me this. No explanation but seems odd he would talk about something that does not exist.
Well now I need to know whats up. I have the dudes card, next time I am there I going to ask him. He specifically said hit the top of the pedal to engage the switch.
Why not go out to your car with a flashlight and mirror?
The car is at another shop now. I am not paying dealer service fees. 600 for a fuel filter change, brake fluid, injector and coolant flush? I dont think so. Guess what I am going to ask about when I pick it up? I don't get why the service tech would tell me this. He just offered it, I didn't ask about it.
Perhaps your tech is thinking of the XJS.
We do have what is called a "Kick-down switch". Depressing the pedal all the way down should engage this switch and down shift the car for passing etc.
On some year models this is a micro switch mounted in the engine bay on the throttle cable.

On some year models it is under the pedal itself.

Great post! I guess I'll give him the benefit of this. But he knew what my car is, hell he was sitting in it when he told me.
Ok, I did learn something but not what I originally thought. I just got back from the other shop and the dude there agreed with you guys. The only thing he could figure was the service tech had the wrong car or that hitting the top of the pedal just gives more leverage to get it all the way down. He showed me a drawing of the part. So, what I learned is I made a very good choice joining here and you guys have a lot of great knowledge. Kudos to those who take time to share all this. I am new to Jags and am quickly finding this place invaluable.

Hint: there isn't. Nor is there a throttle cable. All are drive by wire.
