Default Ice and snow plus parkbrake. UK.

I'm not sure how much this applies, but I was given to understand that if the wheels on Jaguar are slipping and skidding a lot as on icy/snowy roads, partic. getting stuck and spinning the wheels, the ABS microprocessor can make the electronic parkbrake stay on and make the gearlever impossible to get out of park. It was said that one of the back wheels being revved and slipping in snow to get the car out of it can fool the ABS into assuming there is some fault. This was said to me by the dealer who actually had that problem before I bought my car from him. The lot was covered in snow with skidmarks everywhere, and he got the AA man to release the parkbrake. Disconnecting the battery did not effect a cure. Maybe turning off the ABS in these conditions could be a good idea?
I pass this on for what it's worth.
Leedsman.

I might be mistaken but I think there is a software fix for this that the dealer can apply to prevent this from happening.

Not sure what type Jaguar you're concerned with, but skidding and spinning rear wheels is a common occurrence during the winter here in Canada, particularly by those that do not use proper winter tires. I can assure you that on an S-type that neither the ABS or park brake come into play during these circumstances, and only the traction control.

There is a Update at the dealership. I called the local dealership (Sacramento Jaguar) and the parts service manager mentioned there was a update for the Module

There is a software fix, mine was done by a Jaguar assistance technician at the roadside via his laptop connected to my cars ecu.

Ah! to Dervdave -- I rather suspected the AA man knew how to do the software fix for traction-control error (apologies for my my misnomer, ABS) and you seem to have confirmed the probability. Those AA boys certainly know their business...
