Hey everyone I'm new here and have a 2001 Jaguar S-type 4.0. I need to replace the ignition coil in cylinder 3 and was wondering one number 3 is and any info helpfull for a DIY install. Thanks in advance.

How do you know it's #3?

Let's chance it: on your era car (but not the 4.2) cyls 1-4 are in bank 1 and 5-8 bank 2. Bank 1 is R & 2 is L. Cyl 1 is front.

 

Just posted in it, thanks for the heads up. I had the code pulled on it and it came up cylinder 3. plugs are in good shape and I have had a couple coils go already and had them replaced but I thought if they were pretty easy to replace I would give it a shot.

 

Others have posted not bad to do. Check no oil/water/etc in the plug well. Seal with dielectric grease.
