Default Info wanted for 2007 S-Type

I'm a new member since this last week I am a proud owner of 2007 S-Type. I've owned a couple Vetts through out the years and really liked doing as much of the maintenance I felt I could do. I belonged to a Vette forum and if I needed any information I knew the people there would help.In turn as I learned I passed on info when I could. Now I'm starting over with a car and engine I really know nothing about. I always try to find the information I'm looking for on the forums before I ask for help but sometimes I need to go to someone that has had the same problem to get a better understanding of how to fix it. This is one of them.

1. I can open all windows and sunroof by pressing and holding the unlock button.
According to the manual to close all windows I press and hold the lock button. I do this and nothing happens. It will unlock the doors but will not close the windows.
2. Is there an on line manual that gives some info on doing basic engine maintenance. How to guide on changing spark plugs.Maybe just basic but maybe theres something I should know. All info greatly appreciated..

Welcome to the forum.

Leave aside the "global close" problem (yes, it should work). This site has a vast amount of help for you including the answers to your 2nd question so just do some reading.

Please fill in your profile - especially your car details, e.g. in your signature. At least year plus engine size (and if manual gearbox, say so).
(I'm gonna add mine when I start asking stuff LOL)

hmm, on the windows check you have one-touch up & down working. If not, train the windows (handbook) and then try the global close again. May not be the answer but worth a try.

I believe that you need to have the dealer programme the global close function.
This was certainly the case in the 2003 + models so it seems likely for the 07 also.

I thought that might be the case.Wouldn't you think if it was programed to open everything they would have programed it to close? I'll dig deeper into the forums, maybe I'll come up with something.

It's a safety issue, the pre 2003 cars did not have the safety clutch/cut out on the windows so could not be programmed to global close when the safety system was upgraded the closing could be set but only at the owners request.

Yes, but he has a 2007 car. I didn't know (and am slightly doubtful) that it could be programmed off (whether by dealer or otherwise).

Mine doesn't work either. It has pinch protection on all windows and sunroof. All the "auto up" switches work fine, including the sunroof. So, my car is another case of it not being programmed.

What's funny with that is that my factory key didn't do it either. When I went to an aftermarket alarm, I wired an aux channel to the lock side (diode isolated), and if I stand on that button, the car does global close. I tapped into the lock wires in the driver's door module. (Only place you can get to them). The center console power lock button will NOT work without the key in the ignition...

+1 and I was just at the dealer to have the auto lock turned off but I forgot about this one.

It's starting to sound like another country-dependant setting. (Can't see why, though!)

Default Info 2007 S-Type

Would like to thank everyone for their input. I also belong to a diesel forum now for 9 years. Most of what I know about my Duramax came from people like the ones on this forum helping each other.Thats what these forums are all about.Helping the other guy no matter how many times a question is ask or how trivial it may seem.
