Exclamation Intermittent Electrical Issues

Hello friends,

I have a 2002 V8 S-Type I'm having continual electrical problems with. A few months back, I replaced the gecm due to lhf headlight faults. It's roughly been around 2-3 months since, and now the 'bonnet open' warning on the dash won't clear when the bonnet's closed, nor when I push the switch in and out. As well as the wipers are't working on any setting, only the washer pump. Although two separate electrical issues, I'm suspecting a larger issue is at fault. I took the front radiator cover off and the wipers and the bonnet switch decided to work, then suddenly, the bonnet switch stopped working, as well as the wipers at the same time. The only things I had done in between was remove/refit the front rad cover and reconnect my washer pump hoses as they had fallen off. Neither of them have worked exclusively of each other.

Any ideas on where to start here? I checked the main grounds + relays + fuses, and I don't want to fault the gecm (just yet) as it's a new replacement. My initial thought is ignition switch, but everything else runs fine so I don't see how that would only effect the wipers and bonnet switch.

Thank you for any help you can give!

Welcome to the forum.

Based on the timeline you described, my best guess would be a loose or corroded connector common to both circuits. While you were working near the radiator, this connector got bumped just enough to make good contact for a little while, and then it failed again.
