Intermittent Starting problem
Guys,
I know there are a few threads relating to this problem, but none appear to have a solution.
Every so often when the key is turned, I get no crank. PATS - no problems, no flashing codes, battery is new and lives on a CTek conditioner, some clicking from around the front of the engine, high, in the vicinity of the inlet manifold. Relays checked and ok, both OBDII and Jag SDD offer no codes.
The car (03 V6 3.0 115K miles) will eventually start, all I do is wait and try and try again...
It certainly has me a little confused. Possibly worn crankshaft position sensor (but no code!). Starter solenoid, but I get numerous clicks from high in the engine bay. Battery and alternator are ok. Relays all tested and OK
There was one thread stating a fuse was changed, but no indication of which one.
Did anyone find a solution???
Thanks,
Doug

JagV8 - How often do the starters in these cars fail? I haven't read any threads on it but I might have missed them.
If it starts intermittently, it's not a fuse.
If it's not too difficult I would pull the starter and have it checked out at a local parts store or just hook it to your battery to see if it works.
If you've never done it before, you might want to have it checked at a parts store or garage. There is alot of torque when the start.
Good luck.
