Default iPhone 4 noise in STR

I just upgraded to an iPhone 4 (from original iPhone) and whenever I'm in the car there is a rattle/hum noise in the background. The person on the other end hears it also. And I've called different people while in the car, same noise. Only in my 2005 STR, with no Navigation, and I haven't installed my ACM yet so I'm just using the phone.

What could be interfering with the phone?

Anyone else with an iPhone 4 experiencing this?

No I haven't noticed that in my 2007
BUT I have noticed that when the phone now rings in the car
the ring is an Octave lower?? so strange.

Seems to also take longer for the numbers to come up on the navigation too..

This all occurred with the new iphone 4

I can't think of anything in the car that would interfere with the phone???
I'll contact Jag or AT&T this week.

As for the Droid, Verizon's plans were a lot higher, I did look serious look at the X. But AT&T grandfathered original users with unlimited data (no longer offered by either).

I have an iPhone 4...when I use the phone in my STR, it has a very rapid clicking noise, as if the car's spark plugs are firing in the phone.

Stranger still, when I turn my head to the side it stops. I wish I knew how to stop this...

Perhaps it is the 'phone and not the car?
Have you tested in different cars?

My iPhone 4 doesn't click in any of my other cars (Lexus, Saab, MB)...definitely Jaguar-related, for sure

Well I've posted on both AT&T's and Apple's websites. I hope to hear back soon. If not, I'll call Apple or Jag.

Its an Iphone 4 issue, its more subseptable to RF interference, due to the metal band shrouding the anntenae, I noticed that putting my phone in a hard plastic case has reduced the problem, apple really screwed the pooch with this phone. I almost regret getting it, I do love the dual core and the Gobs of RAM this thing has though.

I also have a 2005 S type R but "with" navigation and I get that same stupid noise that i can hear, as well as the person I'm talking to. WHAT IS IT!!!!!

I'm glad to hear it's not only happening because of the nav. I might have to downgrade to a 3GS, my buddy has one and it does not make the noise in my car??
Go Figure!

From the various media reports, it's a fault in the iPhone, originally denied by Apple but now admitted. The link posted in this thread gives some of the details.

My 2004 Diesel does this too, so it's not interference from the cars ignition system at least!
