I still have the noise, Apple said they could care less. I'm not sure what is causing it but the motor has to run. I don't have Bluetooth or Nav. Even after I put a rubber boot around my phone it helped but users on the other end of the phone can't stand talking since they state it's loud! And using speaker sucks since it picks up everything in the car and your conversation is public to your passengers.

Has anyone used the car built in phone?

It is that link, yes. Summary: Apple never have problems it's always the customer. If you've ever tried to get Windows fixed you'll be familiar with the same attitude from another huge company. Good luck!

 

Heh.. add me to the list of iPhone 4 users that hears clicking and stuff when in various cars. My Jag STR and my Mazda both do it at times. (not every time)

 

I found that if you use the ear buds or you use BT no more clicking.

There is a long thread already about this issue. What is causing the clicking is the airbag sensors. These are actully sending waves to determine if someone is sitting in the seat. There is nothing that you can do. A bluetooth or using speaker phone will fix the issue. It really sucks ***......

You'd think someone in Apple or doing testing for Apple would drive a car with occupancy sensors. Or it's some other issue.

 

That's fantastic news azchick, is this the from the new 4.2 update? Did you install the update and check it out in the car?

 

I highly doubt that 4.2 fixed the issue. Its a hardware issue rather than software.

 

The update 4.2.1 (latest) was prior to 11/30/2010 (at least here in the states), and the issue is still there. The callers on the other end say sometimes it's not as bad. I hear it still.
It sucks that I can't pick up my phone and make a call while in the car, unless it's on speaker (which sucks), or headset it (which I haven't done).

I've started to see MANY postings on news sites in regards to other drivers of other cars complaining.

 

So maybe it's just a group halucination thing ...
And this is while you're using whatever hands free steup you have?

I mean all you guys ARE using a hands free system of some sort right?

I have seen that, but not in the stype, I've seen it in the 04 and up XJ. Had a customer insisit the car was the problem, compared to another car, and the same thing happen. I don't know what it is that makes that clicking noise. Maybe a ground loop issue, I no that's probably no where near what that is.

 

Oh it's the same here in New Jersey where people prefer to drive brain free.

When we traveled to PA to pickup my R my buddy has an I4 and while riding with me he was having the same issue. He couldn't hear it but anyone that he called could hear a rapid clicking noise on their end, speakerphone cured it, he doesn't use a BT ear piece. He thought his phone had developed a problem but he walked away from the car on the second day of our travels and it stopped, finally figured out that it was the car.

We figured someone had bugged the car or something with the previous owner because it's obvious it's a transmission of some sort.

Anyway... my Droid X is not affected at all. Air bag sensors huh? Crazy. Glad I don't have an iPhone.
