Default Jacking

Hi,

I got my Jaguar s type 2001 3,0 L last october (my first car ever) and now I suspect I have a sticky caliper and want to check the guide pin on the left rear caliper. As this is my first car it's also my first time using a jack or jacking a car up. I've checked the manual and I'm pretty sure where the rear jack point is, however it's a bit rusty and on the other side it bent, because of rust, when I tried to jack the car. So is there another place I can jack the car which is suitable? I've tried to search on the forum, google, and youtube but it's not easy. I've found one post on here which pointed out the rear subframe. Is that it on the second picture? Where exactely should I place the jack?

Do you have the owners manual?
It shows the lifting points in there. It's at the top of this forum in the stickies called the handbook download. Pretty useful to have.
Since your new I would also download the shop manual which Jaguar calls the JTIS. It's also free and in the same place. Many questions can be answered with a quick look at these documents.
You will need both of these so you might as well get them now.

I have the manual, and I have found the picture locating where to jack (pretty sure that is the first picture). The problem is those locations are so rusty I'm afraid the metal would bend and if it's possible I'd like to know if I can jack from a different point (second picture).

I'm new to jacking, or owning a car, and I'm having trouble to find information about this. I don't want to do something that damage the car.

Some owners cut pieces of 2x4's others have cut old hockey pucks in half etc. I conquer, it does little a bit rusty under there.
