Default Jag security took over my car!!

I used to be able to use my key in the door to roll all the windows down. Now (after picking it up from the shop to get the thermostat changed) I can't do that anymore. When I turn the key counter clockwise and hold it in that position, nothing happens. Only the drivers door opens. When I open the door the alarm goes off. Pretty un-cool . Being that I don't have a remote I have to deal with the alarm going off everytime I get in my car. The side marker lights don't even flash when I turn the key to open or lock the door. What's going on??????

Take it back! They have to set that up again. BTW tell them that you want to be able to do it with your remote again. If they tell you it can't be done, tell them that you already had the universal open/close set up at another dealer. Make sure you don't get charged though.

Yeah, but to who? I didn't get my thermostat changed by a Jag dealer. Just some Joe Shmo around the way. I hear that only Jaguar can set the remote and such on these cars. I have a remote but it isn't programmed for my car. Jag told me it would cost 98 bucks just to program. I was sort of okay with just using the key but now it's a hassle because I trigger the alarm everytime. What could be the cause of this sudden disobedience?[:@]

Well, then I would pay the 100 bucks and maybe buy an extra remote on ebay so that you can have two. It doesn't cost extra for extra remotes. They can do it all at once. Just MAKE SURE that you get global close and open.

Glitch in the Matrix. No one really knows but the hicup now and again. Got to bite the bullet on this one. Go with Biggie's idea and buy a second before you go for programing. That way the wife gets one, too!

I agree, you'll never be happy if you can't use the remote plus that sets the seat memory!

Did they disconnect the battery for any reason? Shouldn't have to to replace a thermostat (I don't think...), but you never know. If they did, there's a setup procedure that has to be gone through when the battery is hooked up again for certain functions to work right. If you have a Jag Service Manual CD the procedure is listed in detail. If you don't shoot me an email and I'll send you a .pdf copy.

Well, took my car to the dealer and got the remote programmed. Now the global feature works again.
