Hello,

I have a 2002 Jaguar S-Type 4.0 and one day all the controls on my driver seat stopped working. Both knobs on the side no longer move the seat in any direction, from forwards and backwards, to up and down, to pivoting the back. I've looked under the seat and can see at least two separate motors, if not three. I doubt all of these motors have decided to quit at the exact same time.

When I hit the preset seat memory buttons, only the mirrors and the steering wheel adjust. However, if I flip the mirror switch to either the left or the right, I can't adjust them manually with the little joystick, only the memory recall will move them. AND to top all of this off, the keyless entry only works for about 20 minutes after I walk away from the car. If the car sits for too long, I can't unlock the doors with the remote anymore. All I have to do is simply open a door, any door, and it starts working again. I can lock and unlock as much as I want then. But after 20 minutes of no "activity"... it stops altogether.

I thought I read somewhere that changing the Driver Door Module would remedy ALL of these problems, but I can't find that thread anymore. Also, I've heard of a Seat ECM? Is this the same module as the Driver Door Module since it controls the memory?

Already tried that. Left the car sitting overnight with the battery disconnected and to no avail.

 

Actually what it looks like is a typical Ford electrical problem. And the Jaguar dealership (at least here locally), doesn't diagnose anything. They just slap you with $109 "diag fee" for everything they claim to look at, when in fact they don't actually do anything. As evidenced by a hidden camera investigation (lawsuit pending). Anyway, this has got to be the worst car I've EVER owned. The three problems I'm asking about are just the tip of the iceberg. This is the last Ford I'm ever buying!!

 

Well I managed to get the door panel off, and voila... there was the Driver Door Module screwed right to the sheet metal just in front of the speaker. There are about four wire harness plugs that plug into this thing. Says right on it: Driver Door Module #1W4T-13C791-AA.

By disconnecting it and taking it out, the following no longer work AT ALL:

Any and all windows (including the sunroof)
Drive away auto door locking
Keyless entry

However, the memory position for where I have the steering wheel still works when I remove or insert the key. So I'm almost led to believe the "memory" is stored somewhere in a different module, which also might contain the memory for the driver seat as well.

Currently, I've got emails into several salvage yards and OEM suppliersfor priceson a replacement module (new or used). As soon as I'm able to get my hands on one, I'll post the results of my findings.
