Exclamation Jaguar S Type-engine shuts off

Hi, the car drives fine until the engine shuts off (electricals, dashboard control lights, all stay up...just the engine dies). It happens, like once in 2 weeks irrespective of any particular time of the day, or routine, or any change to the car...except when stopped at a traffic signal and about to go. I put car in "N" and then start the engine again. It works fine after that. Dont understand why would this happen. If typical to accelaration, then why not everyday at every traffic light stop.

Please advice.
Thanks in advance,
GK

Welcome to the forum,

You will get more benefit from the forum if you post an intro in the new members section, there is a good chance the admin may upgrade you to full membership without the usual restrictions, now would be an excellent time to do this as he is online right now.
We need more details about your car year, engine etc.
Have you had it scanned for codes?

No codes come up during/after it. I do have codes which are for the Cat Conv Bank 2, but not during/after these incidents.

Probably an air leak and on that engine probably one or both of the usual hoses. Have a read - the threads tell you which & how to fix

If it is, then quite cheap and DIY.

Thanks JagV8 for guiding me where to add the info. Have been wondering how to do it as asked by the mods above!

I showed it up to one of the mechanics here, he had no answer, just one word "weird". One of the posts somewhere suggested about throttle cable adjustment or fixing the sensor.

I am from generation of cars which were simple under the hood. These cars make me freak out.

You're welcome.

There's no throttle cable on these cars. Don't let anyone near your car who'll mess.

All modern cars are quite similar because the only way to get emissions down is to use computer control and a bunch of sensors etc. (Or not use petrol but let's not go there now.)
