Default Jaguar S TYPE R Coolant leak

Hello,

I took a puddle with my cat 3 days ago, and the car lost all of it’s coolant from the reservoir, put back 2.5l in the reservoir all was good, and since then I have been having either small leaks or big leaks, but the part that freaks me out is that the temperature gauge acts normally with all this leaks, how accurate is the temperature gauge and what might be the probleme? God damn puddle, really didn’t even wish to go out that day, but I had to buy new wipers... learnt my lesson with puddles though...

DO NOT rely on the instrument cluster temperature gauge to determine coolant temperature! The gauge does not change between 96 C and 128 C, which is too hot for the engine to withstand.

Use a smart phone with the Torque app to connect to the vehicle's PCM via the OBD port with a Bluetooth adapter.

Refill the cooling system with the correct coolant and after a cold soak, preferably overnight, use a pressure tester to look for leaks. Pressurise the cooling system to 1 bar and watch the tester gauge to see if it begins to drop. If it does, start searching for leaks. Common points of failure are the heater return hose under the supercharger and the hoses connected to the EGR valve on the inlet manifold.

Sound advice. Check as well the dual climate control valve for common failure on this age of S type. A challenge to replace yourself but so some patience required. Fortunately common to Lincoln LS etc. so fairly inexpensive.

After thorough searches in the magic box of a supercharged V8 and countless of hours lost, I have found the culprit that lead me to losing 6l of coolant in less than 5 days. It is the magical tube of the vent hose, tiny crack in it that caused it to lose pressure and therefore air came into my system which lead to weak performance and coolant spewing out through the reservoir, gonna post a picture with the culprit and soon a video of how my coolant was seeping out.

many thanks chaps. Ordered a new hose and tried my best to bleed the system of air through the bleeding screw and holding the car at 1500 RPM fast idle for 5 minutes with the climate on HI
