looking for some advice on this cable I purchased
it came from a diagnostic shop that was Closing down
not expensive only cost $40
I have read that some clone cables can cause damage to modules
Just wanted to know if it safe to use to program
as still learning jlr software
But have a friend who works for jaguar who said he will teach me how to use software
I Decided to open cable up and found this in side

I can’t say if it’s real or clone because I’ve never taken my cover off mine to see if they have the same stamp, but I’ve been using my clone for years now and as long as you have the right battery charger hooked up, it worked without failure

Thanks I decided to take cover off to see if I could find any Chinese stickers or markingd
If I get the urge, I might take Biden apart to look. But I know mine is a clone and I know mine works, so I’m kind of hesitant to destroy it by accident.
Well, that makes it easier to tell the difference if you have a long cable that’s the real thing. Mine is a tiny cable maybe 4 feet long at the most probably less.

More important is what version of IDS/SDD will you use?
The 2001 S-Type will be happy with an earlier, stable version of the diagnostic software. A dedicated laptop running WinXp or Win7, depending on the version of IDS/SDD, is recommended.

Yes, watched the video. i have IDS 125, DSS 130, 138 and 160. Planing on using IDS 125 or DSS 130, still don't know which one i will use
