K&N Air filter

K&N Air filter
Because my air filter is probably 2 years old, I am going to replace it with a K&N filter on my 2003 S-type V6. Hopefully the car will benefit from the increased airflow and possibly the resulting better mileage. I have used these in my various other cars for nearly 20 years with excellent results.
I have heard that these can cause problems if you overload them with the oil, but otherwise, they are a great addition to any car. Advance Auto has a great deal on them right now. I got mine for 41.99. That is the same price I have paid for air filters for the last 20 years. The great thing is that K&N is still proudly made here in the United States.

Hi florida jag, I'm going to do you a favor on this one and close it before it gets another flame-a-thon going. This, and the dino vs synthetic oil discussions always get ugly, we've got passionate members on both sides of this argument.
Let me give you the skinny... there's advantages and disadvantages to the filter. It can be reused, therefore will last longer. Over oiling can lead to contamination of the air flow. There is no appreciable HP gain. And, I have one.
Sorry.
