Question Lame throttle response under certain conditions

Hello,

there is some behaviour on my Jag which is a bit strange. It's concerning the throttle and/or the automatic transmission (ZF 6-gear). So I'd ask for some advice if that is "by design" or maybe a fault:

Introduction: on Austrian open roads the speed limit is 62 mls/hr, so the cruising speed is around 65. Now it happens to be that the slower fraction on the roads is driving rather at 50-55 mls - which means at a certain point someone would like to pass them.

Now comes the point: at around 50-55 the throttle (in combination with the AT transmission) is responding really badly. It's like I have to push the pedal half way down until the transmission "decides" to change gears and the car accelerates as someone would expect. Before it's changing gears, I can hear and see (revs) that there is more fuel injected - but the acceleration is like a car with 70hp and a trailer

If I do the same in 'S'-mode or give it a real kick-down - everything is fine and normal. But it is just like I have "to wake up the horses" when changing from cruisin' speed to just quickly overtake someone - and that's quite annoying.

Anyone to comment or give a hint how to improve/change that is welcome!

cheers
Martin

You might want to ask on the UK forum as there are few diesel owners on here (D wasn't sold in USA/etc).

Thanks for the advice but to me it seems rather a throttle issue than which kind of petrol I am burning.

Could be caused by such as MAFS, turbos, EGR, ... all are unique to the D.

That sounds more like a transmission issue than engine.
