Left Rear Axle
Hello:
I am getting an ABS Fault in my 2004 Jaguar S-Type 3.0... The Mechanic said I need ABS Tone Ring and ABS Sensor...He said to change Left Rear Axle with the Tone Ring Attached...Does anyone know if the Lincoln LS Axle will fit? ..I know a lot of the Lincoln LS parts will fit the S-type.
Thanks Everyone

Thanks...The Fault code was scanned says Bad ABS Tone Ring and Sensor...checked by mechanic...I found another Axle that will fit from another Jag...The Lincoln LS will not fit the 2004 year...Thanks
It is not unknown for the rings to expand because of rust. They can then hit the sensor damaging it. But by far the most common fault in this regard is just a faulty sensor, they often fail for no obvious reason other than their age.The fault scanner will say both are faulty, it can not tell what one because the ring is just a ring of metal with no electrical connections.
Changing the sensor is a simple 1/2 hour job, changing the ring is a major job taking a lot longer.
By all means check the ring for expansion due to rust when you are changing the sensor, but do not waste your time and money changing the ring if it is still ok.

Whilst changing the sensor, inspect the ring for cracks, especially if the vehicle is operated in an area where roads are treated with chemicals in winter.
