Default Lights Staying On

2003 S type R model. There are little (almost flashtlight bulb size) lights in the headlights, located in the upper outside area of the headlights. I have noticed that these have started to stay on occasionally after the car has been turned off. I have been able to restart the car, then turn it off, and they go out. Lately, I have had to turn my headlight switch from Auto to Off, to get them to go out. Last night, They were out, so I didnt turn my switch off. This morning I get up and they are on and the battery is dead. I just went home, tried to start it, nothing, hooked a battery charger up to the battery, showed charging at max, took less than 2 minutes and the car started. Help! Any Clues? Thanks Ric

Ric,

You are new so firstly WELCOME to our world.

Those a commonly called "parking lights", and I believe the reason for them doing the weird stuff they are is module related.

I suggest reposting this in t S Theype area, and a flood of responses will take place.

I have not had our "S" long, and nothing werd has happened so far.

I know that Jag did have issues with the automatic light/s module back in 1998???, but your model year I reckon was sorted?.

Any non-standard electrical things anywhere in the car?

Any recent work done?

If no to both then it may be a fault in the harness just behind the front bumper.

Default lights

No aftermarket equippment added. I'm reading a bad battery can lead to a lot of electrical malfunctions. Any other ideas are appreciated. Thanks, Ric

Go to an auto parts store and get a hygrometer. It checks the battery cells and I'm bettin one or more may be weak. If so, replace battery.
How old is your battery, if original, it should be replaced anyway, just good insurance.
