Default Lincoln LS 3.0 short block compatibility?

So I bought a 2003 s-type with a 3.0 liter v6. 8th digit of VIN is "T". Engine has a broken rod in the #1 cylinder. I have a Lincoln LS with a cracked head but low mileage with a good bottom end. Question is: Will the 3.0 Lincoln block work? I am a mechanic by trade and can do the work but don't want to start if it's a waste of time....hoping someone has attempted this before and knows what I need to know. I hope I posted this in the correct section. TIA

One easy way to tell is compare head gaskets.

The AJ-V6 was designed by Jaguar and built at a Ford engine plant in the US.

The pistons and heads would need to have a compatible profile as well.

I thought the Jag engine was essentially a new set of heads plus all the other changes required to run it as a RWD V6 instead of the Ford Taurus FWD V6? That's a lot of changes too! Or are they completely different engines?

If the LS is also RWD (as I think it is), that should help.

There were no FWD Lincoln LS or AWD which frankly is one reason why it was a failure in a lot of the USA. Ditto for the entire Jag line at that point in time as well. I drove the Lincoln LS a number of times and almost bought one but the RWD was a deal killer as an everyday car in the winter here so I got a Sable FWD wagon instead. Much more practical car but nowhere near as nice to drive. That had a 24V transverse V6 but I think Jag's tune of the engine was much better and smoother in addition to being RWD.

In answer to your original question I do not know for sure but doubt that the LS block is the same as the Jaguar block.

Even in the UK despite being basically the same there are differences between the Land Rover and Jaguar engine blocks regarding auxiliary mountings etc that make them incompatible, so I seriously doubt that the LS block will be identical.
But I have never tried it myself so could be wrong and it may be the same??

Interesting question, but no solid answer yet. What if you compare the part numbers for aftermarket rebuilt short blocks? You can't compare the official Jaguar or Motorcraft numbers, as those will be brand-specific even if physically identical.

Aftermarket? If the part itself is identical for both makes, be it something simple like a gasket or complex like a short block, the vendor will typically assign the same third-party number to both. No guarantees, as they might still assign separate numbers for marketing purposes, but if the same, you should be good.

I poked around a few sites but no luck yet. I've backwards cross-referenced many parts that way at Rock Auto, NAPA, etc., but unfortunately I'm not seeing any Lincoln or Jaguar motors. Perhaps they're still too new. I know I've seen motors (long and short block) for other older vehicles, so hopefully that info is out there.
