Oh...and I'll warn you now, what I post may not be family friendly and there is a distinct chance of random nudity, drunkeness, and general disregard for local traffic laws. (not necessarily all at the same time). I mean, two good ol Texas boys on a trip to Pennsylvania to pickup a Jaguar and go work the natural gas fields then going on tour back to Texas... if that ain't the makings of a good story what is? Trust me, where we are there will be good times.[/quote]

Just don't end up like Wayne...handcuffed to the back of a State Troopers Ford ( Bruce Springstien "Darlington County")

There is a slight chance that I may make my pilgrimage to Lynchburg, TN and visit the Jack Daniels brewery but if we do I imagine that we'd probably blast down 81 via Knoxville, Chattanooga and Birmingham. We've talked about going through DC and flipping O the bird. We might even decide to go via Nashville and Memphis and soak in some good music and food. But you just never know...

Tennessee is really nice, and also they are not part of the drivers license compact so you can really fly. We met some car people at some car meets down there, and most of them had a TN license and 3 or 4 licenses from other states . I got nailed doing 105 in a 55 zone and never paid it, never heard a word about it either.

Me and a friend flew out Friday to PA to pickup my STR and go visit his sister for a few hours on Saturday.

Saturday morning the dealer sent a driver to pick us up in Harrisburg after we stayed out until 2AM to have a few drinks but luckily no hangover. We get to York at noon and take care of the paperwork, etc.

We go to leave and we have no juice to the cig outlets...ie, no phone charger, radar, etc. Sure enough the outlet in the center console had a penny, took some work to get it out, replaced the fuse and we were in business. Checked over the basics, oil , tires, etc added some fuel and off we went.

Car mechanically is good, ran hard and fast all the way back via Roanoake, VA and a bit of fun after midnight, then up early and a mad dash about 500 miles to Lynchburg, TN to tour the Jack Daniels distillery.... yes, made my pilgrimage to the promised land! Bought up an armload of JD goodies for my bar/pool room then headed to Memphis but decided to hit Tunica, Mississippi for some Blackjack instead. Next morning was another 500 miler back to Fort Worth, Texas and home.

How did it do? Great, no leaks, ran smooth, my Kiwi OBD showed no issues, temps and pressures were spot on.

MPG? 90-100 (which we did a lot of) was 22.5MPG, 75-80ish was around 23.5-24 and 65-75 was 24-25. Not bad at all.

How far? 1800 miles total and not a single problem. We flogged it pretty hard to make it back on time and had average speeds of over 75MPH.

I bought a couple of Jag filters this morning and had the oil changed, Mobil 1 5w/30, changed the cabin filter, a turn sig bulb that was clear instead of amber and a new oil pan drain plug then had a Texas inspection done and paperwork for 'importing' to Texas. No probs.

What does it need? Not much really. I'm not naive enough to think that it would be perfect for the price I bought it for or that the dealers description would be accurate. Interior is perfect and everything works. Passenger side visor mirror is broken, needs a new mirror or visor. That's it.

Exterior, well, she was 70, rashed the wheels, which I knew about, got both mirrors but the driver side will clean up, passenger probably needs to be reshot, rubbed the front air damn a bit, not bad at all.

Brakes are great, no vibrations, squeaks or rattles.

No leaks or issues of any kind otherwise, was a real road missile and hammered anything that even thought about taking it on. Long stretches at 90+ are a breeze, 80MPH is turning 2k on the tack so 100 isn't even breathing hard.

So what's next?

Window tint in the next day or so.

That's about it for now.

I love the car, a real joy to drive, smooth and fast, handles well, not as good as my M3 but certainly good enough for the high speed strafing I did in the hills of PA, VA and TN...and I did plenty of it.

I'm happy.

Still have pics to upload from the JD tour and others but here's a few for now.

Congradulations on the new car. Always exciting to get something different. I've had more than I can count (a lot bought wrecked). But I still get a thrill out of a first drive in a ( new to me) car.

I think the one we got was a senior car too. Not trying to be disrespectful since I ain't no spring chicken myself. But the signs are there. Curb rash on the rims and different color paint scrapes. Luckily for me, the last incident totaled it but wasn't all that bad.

Good luck with it. Wish ours was a R but with Laurie's lead foot style of driving, I think the V6 may be better for her.

Thanks for the great update! I have had mine for almost 6 months and I'm still totally enamored with with. Some days I just go out to the garage and look at it.

Car looks clean and that was some adventure pickin' her up! I did a similar trip last August, Atlanta to NJ. Keep us up to date on what you do with the car.

"MPG? 90-100 (which we did a lot of) was 22.5MPG, 75-80ish was around 23.5-24 and 65-75 was 24-25. Not bad at all."

I wish mine did that well. The best I can do is your 90-100 mph range. But it's at much lower speeds here. So I'm getting 2-2.5 mpg less than you are under the most efficient circumstances.

Good luck with the car.
