Default Looking to buy a 06 jaguar s-type

Hey i am new to the forums and came across a 06 jaguar with 38k miles online i scheduled a test drive tomorrow. Can anyone let me know what are some key things to look out for to check if the car is in good shape? Any common problems related to this year.

I also found an 03 with about 40k miles on it but its the s type r for a similar price. I have been debating on which one to purchase considering if they both end up being in good condition. Any pros and cons on both models as well as any other feedback would be much appreciated as it is obvious i don't know much about these cars or jaguars in general but i just love its overall exterior design that just has that classic timeless look. Hope to hear back from you all soon .

Welcome to the forum, What I've learned on this forum when buying a used S-Type is to check all the fluids..levels...check it coolant is orange colored...I of course didn't check all of that as most young first time car buyers do But I do remember that my coolant was orange when I checked fluid levels days later

That's all I can provide on what to look for on your test drive tomorrow ! I'm sure you'll enjoy the car and will take it home !

See the buyer's guide post in the How-to sticky. Generally, MY03 and subsequent are held to be more reliable than MY02 and prior. Maintenance history is probably the most important parameter after current condition. If the sales-listing has pictures, and if you post a link, lots of sharp-eyed guys here will tell you if they see potential problems. Do a search for similar threads and you'll see what minutia people have spotted in past ads. Or, if you test drive, it. Snap lots of pics and post back here for the same treatment.

Try to get it on a rack and check for leaks at the transmission wiring sleeve, or on the pan, also the transmission cooling lines, they sometimes leak at the metal to hose junction and are a bitter ex wife to change. No dipstick so I'd be wary if you see any transmission fluid leakage.

Engine size affects some of the things to look out for...
