Default Low fuel pressure CEL

I have a very occasional low fuel pressure CEL and a short < 2 second loss of power. It seems to happen if I nail the accelerator off the line. The fuel pressure shows as 300 Kpa ( 43.5 PSI ) when I pull it from the computer, but that is after the event. The CEL clears on its own after a couple of cycles.
My thought is either an intermittent problem with the fuel pressure regulator or the fuel pump is on the way out. Any suggestions on what to try first ?

Thanks, I have replaced the fuel filter. I used a Mahle filter. Its a 2006 4.2 S-Type with 110,000 miles.

The only stored code was for low fuel pressure. ( iCarSoft code reader ) . The running fuel pressure is 300kpa and the LT fuel trims are 0.0% and -1.6%.
I have replaced the fuel filter.

Post the code number. Too much wrong info from scanners.
You say low fuel pressure but your numbers don't show that?
