Manual transmission
I have a 2003 S Type 3.0 with a manual transmission. The clutch is due for replacement. Have not been able to find a parts source for a clutch kit (pressure plate, clutch disc and throw out bearing) other than the dealer. Some sources will list one component but not another. Some sources list two types of pressure plates that are not apparently related to VIN number. Any suggestions as to sources for a clutch kit? Also, does this model have a dual mass flywheel?
Also, try Nalley (a site sponsor dealer) or believe it or not, a Lincoln dealer.... The LS was also available with the 5 speed manual. I don't know of other cross references other than that. Because they are very, very, very rare cars the dealer may be your best source. Some of the confusion with parts may be that the S Type actually came with more than one manual transmission.. The 5 speed that North America/Rest of the Word got and the 6 speed that was for the diesel only cars that were never sold here. Because the diesels were never sold here I'm not sure if production of both overlapped. Many sites just have plain old databases that don't take into account regional specs. In general, whenever multiple spec parts come up it is always a good idea to contact a dealer with your VIN... This applies to any car really... I have the same issue with my 300. Since it was produced for global markets it has some really crazy things come up... How about that it could have come with three different sway bars? Two different sets of brakes? Yup...Global Markets...
