2003 S type V8

Abs, park brake, check engine, stability control faults came on all at the same time after parked for 9 hours. Owned car and new battery for 1 week.

Get a C-tek type charger install it and use it. Lock your doors every time you get out of the car. Your battery may be new just not fully charged.

If the battery is fully charged and ok, and you still get the faults, then you will need a code reader to see where the faults are.

If you also get 'cruise unavailable' my guess would be a wheel speed sensor fault.
But you will need the codes to be sure.

Thank you for the reply. The battery is reading 14.1. Will that rating still need to be charged? Forgot to add: when I open the door I get a rapid beep, beep, beep for about 10 seconds or so. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I do not have any of the cruise unavailable faults. Thanks for the insight. I will have to find a scanner to get codes. Thank you.

Was that reading taken with the engine off?

If so, Immediately after charging (whether from the alternator or an external charger), a battery can show a misleading high voltage due to a phenomenon known as surface charge. 14.1v (at rest) is very high and is almost guaranteed to be that.

With the ignition off, turn on your high beams for about 30 seconds. That bleeds off any surface charge. Then take your voltage reading. This will now give a more accurate indication of battery health and state of charge.

Some of this is all gee whiz information. An unloaded voltage reading is only a very rough estimate and is often misleading. Myself, I’d just charge the poor battery to be sure.

Some more reading you may find of interest. Low prestart voltage (even if the starter seems to crank at a good speed) can cause strange symptoms:

Often the battery itself is at fault, but not always. There are several scenarios, such as a drain or a marginal charging system, that can also lead to low prestart voltage. That’s why I’m always harping to charge the battery before any electrical troubleshooting. If the faults clear temporarily, then you know how to proceed.
