Default MIR on Sunday? & Track Dates left in 2012

I have finally replaced my motor mount -- now is anyone interested in meeting at MIR this Sunday?

Gates Open - 9am
Time Runs - 10am to 6pm
Gambler's Race - 3pm

Test & Tune Drag Racing - $30
Adult Admission - $15
Children 11 & Under Admission - Free
Gamblers Race Entry / Win $1000 - Free with paid Test & Tune Entry

The air temperature is forecasted to be warmer than I'd like (sunny and 67F).

The final track dates left in 2012 at MIR are:
  • Nov 18, Sun, Test & Tune
  • Nov 25, Sun, Test & Tune

Ditto to Mike. Wish we all could meet and race, and get away from this impending snow storm.

Come on you guys/gals. The snow around here will be long gone by Sunday. It'll be beautiful sunny day and just shy of 70 degrees F.

Assuming I can buy a helmet by then I'll be there.

G,
If you're able to make it to the track Sunday but don't have a helmet you still have options:
-barrow mine;
-bum a helmet from someone else;
-run hard and then hit the brakes before the finish line.
Last, track personnel can become lax (but not typically at MIR) and not notice you're running sub 14.0 second 1/4 mile runs.
Later, B

I plan to arrive at the track by 2:30PM and stay until about 6PM.

The air temperature will be 70 degrees F so I don't expect any great ETs or high trap speeds.

I called the track and if you don't have a helmet they have a few helmets to rent.

Have fun. Looking forward to the ET's. 70 degree isn't too bad. Do you ice down the charge coolers prior and aft.?

There was a very good turnout --- over 400 cars racing.

I will post the slips later. Here are my three runs:
Run 1) Air temp =72F
ET = 13.33 at 105.mph
Run 2) Air temp = 69F
ET = 13.31 at 105.98mph
Run 3) Air temp = 65F
ET = 13.22 at 106.25mph

I did ice down the intercoolers but the lines in the staging lanes were too long to keep the car cool. It appeared that the engine coolant (not supercharger coolant) was 185 to 190 F. So the engine was not hot at all but not cool/cold either.

Wonder if you'de ever be able to make a run after motor warmed just after dead cold? I'm betting you'de pull off a 12.8 second 1320 ft.

2 questions:

What is your launching technique for first gear? In wonder if full wot is too much or if another way is better.

What is a good way to ice down the intercoolers without getting water on the engine. I was thinking some trash bags might work?
