Old engineer - so sorry to hear about your woes and understand your decision in this light.
Having said that we'll be sad to see you go.....hopefully you'll drop by from time to time and say hello, maybe post up some pics of your new ride and show her off, maybe share some wisdom with some of the newbie Jag owners here.......either way you'll always be welcome here

Good luck and all the best

WTH??? 5$ a day for a rental?? Don't they provide a 0 cost loaner?? Man, I am spoiled.....

I'm assuming he's talking about my supposition that what if the car was laid up for 3 weeks whilst awaiting a replacement headlight due to a fender bender or something. My insurance also has a small "co pay" for the rental car.
Actually I think it's the max amount they pay, although they have negotiated deals with the rental car companies.

They have a rental car company desk right in the dealership - Enterprise.
If it became a long wait for a warranty issue and they wanted to end the subsidy I think I might have a discussion with them but I'm not familiar as to whether the Select Edition includes a loaner car. I think that's basically your local dealer's policy.

Oh and BTW, yes, yer spoilt ...

I've considered going the same route as you with either a LR2 (Volvo platform and drivetrain) or BMW X3. But don't know. The parts availability has been an issue with Jaguar in North America even before Tata took over. The main issue is the low volume the North American market presents. There aren't parts issues if you live in Europe since there are much greater sales in those markets. Honestly, I wouldn't expect them to stock a bunch of stuff for so few cars. I also don't have issue if my car ends up sitting at the dealer waiting since my dealer provides a nice loaner when it is in the service department, warranty or not.

Before you blow us off entirely, please share pictures of the GLK. I like those and would like a gander....

Good luck and enjoy the new ride..
Haven't had a chance to snap any pictures of the GLK yet. Took her on her first decent trip today. We headed up I79 towards Clarksburg, WV, to meet our son and his family for dinner. They came down from Pittsburgh. The GLK is not broken in yet, so I didn't romp it, but, it surprised me nonetheless. I expected a lot of downshifts on the long grades on I79. I was running just over 70, and, the Benz never dropped out of 7th gear once - all I got on hills was some exhaust rumble and she simply marched up hills in 7th. She was rock steady in the curves as well. Looks like she's going to be a very comfortable and capable long trip vehicle.

Yep, that MB 3.5 litre makes decent power and is blessed with an awesome transmission. I was close to picking up an older version.
