You might check the policy language to see if there is a mediation clause regarding first party (you) disputes. If so mediation is relatively easy. Your problem is the certainty of long term damage. As you see from some astute responses here, unless you see problems now, the future is unpredictable. And if you mediate, you will probably need an expert to establish loss. And that will probably cost you. Bottom line is no easy answers for you here. Be happy it is not worse. I have seen folks lose tens of thousands in cases like this.
