My new stype

I have heard of S types having problematic transmissions-----Is there anything that one should look for as signs that this will be occuring in the near future? When I shift mine from park to reverse, drive, etc, its smooth shifts easily, and when driving it auto shifts very smooth as well. Just curious as to if there are ANY problems that I should be checking for before my warranty runs out seeing as I know NOTHING about the car at this point !!!!

Whinning noises when accelerating hard, and all of the plastic interior that Ford makes for our cars. It all tends to fall off or brake off. Make sure you do a tranny fluid change asap, as it probably hasn't had the oil changed in 65k miles. The tranny's are sealed for life so the chances that it's been changed is very unlikely.

the carfax states that during the services the fluids were all changed, im guessing that means those fluids as well??? thanks for the info!

Not necessarily. The tranny on our cars is like our differentials. We can change the fluid, no problem, but there is no easy way to do it as they are sealed for life.
