Well, a large black bear decided to test the structural integrity of my 2005 S Type tonight. She held up but is a parts car now. Breaks my heart. I enjoyed this car so much. Poured blood, sweat, and tears into getting everything right.
Sad. It appears as tho both the bear and the jaguar lost this fight. A good friend of mine with a large car collection always rents a car and pays for the full insurance when he drives on a trip. I asked why, when he's got several cars that would be wonderful long-distance cruisers. He explained that partly he just enjoys getting to drive different kinds of cars, but mainly he just doesn't want to rack up a bunch of miles or risk any of his own babies. I guess it finally paid off. Recently he struck a mule deer on such a trip. He said the rental car company switched him out a different car, cost him nothing and he was delayed less than an hour. One of my younger employees has one car, a 2024 Mitsubishi Mirage and has it rented out on Turo most of the time because he lives downtown and rides his bicycle most everywhere (this younger generation - whataya gonna do with them). Now I worry for him because I keep picturing his little Mitsu hitting a mule deer and him having to deal with a wrecked car hundreds of miles away.
So happy you all weren't hurt. It is hard to see black bears at night when they run across the road. There has been a TON of Jags that just came on the market in the South US. If you are looking for a newer or other Jag, you should really check out where it has been. The hurricanes and flooding vehicles are showing up around here.
