Over heating
My 2000 3.0 started over heating. Turned out several hoses had small tears Fixed them and the car was still overheating and we found the water pump to be weeping. We also found the upper radiator inlet cracked. To pull the radiator we literally had to disassemble every thing in front os the motor. 15 hours later it was done along with the heater control valve. Next week is plugs. The job was a nightmare but at least I shouldn't have any cooling system worries. Also fixed a headlight lens break from a large bird. I found an assembly and we were able to get them both apart and to switch lenses As I said,, the whole job was a bitch!!!
When I bought my Jag, I started buying all new hoses so as I had time, I could change them. The worst cooling defect on all these cars is the expansion tank. That was the number one complaint for 4 years. Plastic timing tensioners was second but managed to move to first place once the early models got a few miles on them. Jag has suspended all car production.....looks like they might belly up soon. That said, stock up on parts now.
