Finally this afternoon I took apart my rear deck cover, and my car is a complete mess. Hopefully tomorrow I should be getting my two 8" 4 Ohms, "e3.8 Elemental Design subs" which will hook up to my factory Amp (should be an easy plug and play procedure), if its not that great sounding then I'll hook it up to another Alpine Amp and use and Inline converter. The previous owner already had made two 8" cutouts from inside the trunk where the original 6.5" cutouts were. Cool thing is he dynomatted the whole area under the rear deck. Unfortunately he also cut some wires up that hook up to the Subs on both Driver and Passenger sides as a gift to me . Can someone who has done the rear sub swap job tell me which wires are positive and negative for the Drivers side and Passenger side; so that I will be able to hook it up to my new 8" subs, please?

If you can just fill in the question marks that'll be the easiest way.

Driver side:

1) Yellow/Black stripped wire= ?
2)White/Black stripped wire= ?

Passenger side:

1)Green wire= ?
2) White/green wire= ?

I have taken Jason's pics to illustrate how the wires are connected originally to the 2 6.5" subs in the rear deck.

LOLz.... nevermind I found out, it was right under my nose. Had just to look at the diagram to to figure out the pos and neg wires.....


Driver side:

1) Yellow/Black stripped wire= -
2)White/Black stripped wire= +

Passenger side:

1)Green wire= -
2) White/green wire= +

 

If you ever find yourself with unmarked terminals on a speaker, a positive voltage applied to the positive speaker terminal will cause the speaker to move outwards. For subwoofers and woofers, a 9V battery makes a great test tool

 

Now that's a great tip - never heard that before, nice one!

 

LOL I Pm'd him that because he asked me the question via PM. Personally I like to use a AA battery (I have one in my tool kit in a .50 cent radio shack holder), less voltage and you can test any speaker including a tweeter.

I've used 9V for tweeters too since its a pretty low current battery and the cell voltage will drop. Both would work, the 9V terminals are in close juxtaposition that makes it easier to use without added wires.
