Default Needing to replace power brake booster in 02 s-type 3.0 v6

Can anyone tell me if I should go with a used oem or a cardone brand brand new off rockauto.com? Also, how much labor time to do a power brake booster? and does anything else need to be done while your in there? thanks guys!

How did you come to the determination that the brake booster needs to be replaced?

I do need to do a inspection, but when I press the brake I hear a air sound, and sometimes when I press the brake I feel a grinding and a popping noise vibartion and feel it in my foot.

I believe there is a hose that runs off the brake booster that is prone to cracking/failing - I would trace the hoses off the brake booster. Search the forum on this. I'm no expert on the 3.0 but I do remember reading a thread about a leaking vacuum hose coming off the brake booster - if I come across it I will shoot it to you. Replacing a faulty hose is WAY cheaper than replacing a brake booster - let us know what you find.

Why would the brake Servo cause a grinding noise? does the car stop normally or does it seem to take a lot more pressure on the pedal to stop, generally but not always the pedal feels hard and stopping power is greatly reduced if it is a servo problem, check out the brake pads to see if they are worn, as this would more likely cause a grinding noise. If you have any concerns regarding your brakes I would suggest that you get them checked out as soon as possible.

+1 to barney & abonano posts. (Yes there is such a pipe at least on some 3.0s)
