New Jaguar S Type? Or Xf
I was looking around for body kit for my s type and ran across this. I think this car is pretty cool and maybe someone will get the hint to get Jaguars to what the are suppose to look like. This was a S type prototype before they scrap them for the Xf, but I will post a pick of the Arden Xf as well, they look similar .
If any one knows of a cool body kit for an 08 jaguar s type, please post link....I seen the special sport model kit but it says 05-06.... Rimmer bros has the one I like but I rather find it closer and in the US.
Wishing for the retro styling days of jag to come back are over! They have to chase the fresh and modern styling of the german luxury competitors, and they took that step forward with the introduction of the XF, and then the XJ, and now, the new XE.
I was even reading an interview with the main designer at Jaguar, saying how he wants to dump the signature E-type-inspired front grill shape that is on the F-type and current XK series, to something completely different.
In other words, jaguar styling direction is heading forward in completely new ways, so styling inspirations from the past are dead and gone...

XKs will cease production after the 2015 year so that is already going to happen.
But what I don't understand is that both Merc and BMW have maintained their iconic design elements while keeping things fresh (e.g., the three pointed star and the "kidney" grill). So it doesn't seem that Jaguar had to completely drop all legacy styling elements.
Jaguar still does have the leaper/growler so I suppose that corresponds to the Merc star and the BMW roundel. But Merc always seems to keep the star as a large element in the grill thus defining the entire front end while the kidney grill does likewise for the BMW. Unfortunately other than the traditional XK or XJ grill designs Jaguar doesn't have anything that corresponds.

Going retro is a risky game, but if the right designs are in place, they will go far. Look at the mustangs, challengers and Camaros etc.... If this design was the first year of the s type, it would still be around, but they blotch up a lot of things in the first few year models, mostly the interior portion..... Lots of drab reviews for the model. I love my S type but it's not for everyone. I like classic looking cars.
The S-Type debuted into a much better economy (at least here in the USA) compared to today. But by 2002 the tech bubble had completely collapsed and regardless of design preferences, many former potential buyers couldn't even purchase a motor scooter because their jobs (and careers) had disappeared down the financial drain....
And what’s so wrong with legacy or heritage or being different in the days now that all cars have to look like they have come out of the same mould. I think my S type is the business still I am biased I suppose.
I have seen the Arden kit, I like it but where can you get it in the US? going through Arden is pricey and they charge for currency conversion plus I don't read German, so I don't know what I am really buying. I will keep looking, not in a hurry to get the kit, I am enjoying my Jaguar just like she is. I still going to fix up the regular issues such a repairing the curb scratches, drooping headliner, some minor body blemishes and a few more mechanical maintenance repairs. Other than that, the car runs and looks beautiful for a 6 year old with over 100k in mileage. I am very proud to have my Jaguar, I will take good care of her and drive her for many years to come. The best part is I am enjoying doing the work myself and if I can't, I will source it out. Another perk, she is paid for and I love not having a car payment.
