New Member with problems
I have a 2001 S-Type V-8. I bought the car in November 2009. Initially, I found that the a/c was only blowing cold air on the right side of the car, with the left side blowing warm/hot air. It didn't matter what I did to the controls, it continued cold on the passenger side, warm/hot on the driver's side. AS the weather got hotter (we live in Louisiana) we noticed that if we kept the a/c on, the left side would eventually cool. So I figured it must be low on R134. Went to check that, but found that the compressor clutch wasn't turning. Checked the fuse and found that it was blown! Replaced that and it promptly blew again. So,... what do I need to check and how? First thing is why is the clutch fuse blowing? I've heard of a DCCV? valve, what is that and where is it? Though I usually work on my own cars (my wife and I rebuilt a 4.2 XKE engine 30+ years ago, now I mainly work on Studebaker engines. I'm not a mechanic, but I can work on cars. There is no Jaguar dealer or mechanic in town, so would a Lincoln/Mercury dealer/mechanic be able to work on this car?
Thanks for any help.
Thanks for any help.
First buy the service CD/DVD on EBay. Best $10 you will ever spend.
Second no Ford won't be any help with your car. In fact DO NOT take it to your local Ford dealer at all!!!
Third see the advice in the above post. You have a VERY common problem and you should be able to do some troubleshooting to narrow it down.
