Have you tried it with a different battery?

 

Resetting them doesn't fix the root cause. What were the codes?

 

I have an update, I just picked the car up. He changed the alternator because the jag indy said the scanner picked up a power problem message. 2 days no limp mode. Low and behold, driving home... Limp mode! New Alternator, TPS?!?!?!

 

Any tips very welcome fellas.

Yes. You're stumbling in the dark without one.

 

I am going to buy one on Ebay. One thing I have noticed is I have been sat at light and the idle appears to start jumping. Sitting just below 1000rpm, then it starts to idle over 1000, then limp mode.

 

I would not spend any more time trying to describe what your car is doing. It's not helping.

We need to see what codes you have. It's the only way to start troubleshooting. That's what the codes are for.

Well it's not the best because the dealer stuff is the best but it is the cheapest that will work.

I have the wired one and plan to also get a wireless one because the cord is in the way when I want to drive around and watch the live data streams.

They are so cheap that you can easily get both. The cheap Chinese ones on EBay are good enough.

The software is a another choice (You do get software with the ELM327 but there are better programs out there) and I use ScanXL with a old laptop but that is a commercial product. Most hi tech guys use an app on their smart phone. Which would make the wireless ELM327 a better choice again.

Don't forget we have a bunch of threads on this and it is worth your time to at least look at some of them before you buy anything.

One code I have is P1229. Need to go back to the car to get the rest. As I thought they would be stored in the phone.
