dont have a separate data plan for it. operates off of the smart phone app.... car toys put it in, they wanted 7 hrs for the install, took longer...so i would say its a bitch... but they have 2 guys at that location that know jags well....if you dont know jags well it, should not be attempted......there is a yearly fee for the service so that's the data plan 3 yrs for $149.00 they also develop some home automation things as well....

Here in the NYC area I've been putting a small space heater in my Suburban to deal with the ice and snow. I leave it on 65F for the duration of the store. Windows stay clear and doors don't freeze shut. That helps tremendously but there's not really a good spot for that heater in the Jag. Just turning it on remotely won't do all that much with the kind of weather we've been having.
I've had to use warm water from my garage sink to unfreeze doors at times.
It's been a brutal year, more coming to night too! Whoopie!

car is garaged year round so not used to warm it up, also its a third vehicle not a daily driver.... makes it easy to steel? statement alone shows the lack of your knowledge in car theft at least..... i use it when returning to car, i start it before i arrive and unlock it so its ready to go as you reach it....in order to drive away you still need the key in the ignition. or it will turn off.......you know remote start is a very common upgrade from the factory in many cars these days,,,,if you dont get it, maybe you should get out more...

This is particularly useful in the winter obviously. Allows you to remotely start the car, give the cabin time to warm up, and for the windows to clear. It's meant to be a luxury and a convenience; particularly for those who don't fancy the freezing cold in the dead of winter.

We got 1/4" last night, thank god, so I think a brush and some heat will get it done.
But in the summer it should be great even if it might violate some local ordinances. It's "cool".

ITS a 2 part deal, the first part is a remote start product that come with a small fob that starts the car, unlocks the doors and turns off the car. the 2nd part is an smart phone app.....this starts the car, locks and unlocks the doors and opens the trunk , from your phone, it also will tell you where your car is, if its stolen, you lose it at the mall ect ect.......it was a gift so thats why i have it... i use it to start the car prior to getting in, say for example as i leave the gym i start the car while walking out the door, then as i near it i unlock the doors... when i get to the car its warm and ready to go....no biggy and judging by some of the reactions not for everyone....maybe those folks can just read the post and move on....

It is interesting to note that many car manufacturers are also installing Stop/Start technology on their new models,---to prevent cars idling while they are stationary(traffic hold-ups, fast food drive by windows etc). This as a fuel economy improvement device.
An estimated 8.8 million cars are so equipped and this is expected to rise to 55.4 million vehicles by 2022---according to Navigant Research.

I hate stop start.
How much fuel do you actually use while stopped at lights?
A tenth of a gallon per hour? Less?
So 10 hours of idling will cost you one gallon of fuel?
How long are you stopped at lights for? 2 mins a time, maybe 3.
How many weeks or months would it take to save a gallon of fuel? It would probably take me a year.
Now weigh that up against the cost of fitting stop start as an option and the wear on the starter motor and battery.

WHY? this is a remote start..... just pretend you have a key for your car that's 50 feet long, and you can put it in the ignition from 50 feet away and start the car......it has nothing to do with anything else... not fuel mileage not tire pressure or even how many air bags you have......can you really not grasp the concept here? this is laughable ...i mean really
fyi the start/stop technology mentioned prior is a eco thing... and its performed in drive.... while driving the car..... its not a remote start and has nothing to do with remote start.... nothing.. so stop
