Default new STR owner

Hello,

new Jag owner here. I just bought a 2003 S-Type R and I love it. It had only 67K miles and 1 owner.
It must have been garaged kept. Just beautiful and what a blast to drive. I also have a 06 Pontiac GTO that i adore and now the jag is my daily driver. Any tips on making it faster would be appreciated....

Well thats funny, I have an 03 STR and my dad has a red 04 GTO, so your pictures look very familiar.

Welcome! There's plenty of into on modding the STR that can be located via the search function. My recommendation would be to purchase a Qwiketz (forum member name) intake elbow along with a K&N for an easy 12rwhp for under $300.00. Also check out my thread on tinting your side markers which are a must on a charcoal colored car.

Finally, I would love to see you do a friendly and safe race with both your cars against each other. Off the line and from a 50mph roll, please .

Have deep pockets. Only real mods right now are:

-Intake Tube (not sure if they are still being made)
-3lb pulley
-Full exhaust and high flow cats

That is pretty much it

K&N a/f, modded air intake tube (qwiketz), 1.5 or 3 lb pulley, hi flow cats and x-pipe (est. 450 chp @ 470 lb/ft trq.) should do the GTO in for the first 30 minutes...till the "Heat Soak"'s in.

I've run an LS2 (05-06) GTO with unknown mods (probably close to stock, maybe an exhaust), even heat soaked I put ~1.5 cars on him from 5-80 on 3 straight pulls. This was when I was bone stock. He wouldn't run from a dig. Now: it wouldn't be much of a race anymore .

Default Rock On!

LOL! Last year the owner of an 04 BMW M5 (5L V8, 390 chp @ 360 lb/ftrq., 0-60 in 4.9 sec.) banged on the steering wheel in disgust from my well warmed 03 STR dusting his "M" machine. Recently killed a 2011 Dodge Challenger SRT8. Ohh...I just love my STR.

At the track I've walked away from: SRT-8 Grand Cherokee w/mods, G8 GXP 6-spd w/drag radials and light mods, 1st gen CTS-V, new Camaro SS, Porsche Cayenne Turbo, etc. I've run door to door the whole way down the track with a 2013 Mustang 5.0, but even stock they still just get me, and modded they walk away with ease . If the weather holds, I will be back out there on the 3rd with my GoPro...I accidentally deleted my video when I hurt the feelings of the SRT-8.

Dang! Quartz, U did the Grand Cherokee SRT8 and Porsche Ceyanne S? Awesome kills. The 5.0 Stang is just too darn light (3400 lbs.). Test drove one a few months back...very impressive, and no wonder it kills the Camaro SS, etc. Can only imagine what the BOSS (440 chp) and GT500 (650 chp) feel like. Get us vids!

They look to be D2S 35W and colour 4300K.

You might find other posts by Searching on 4300K or some other terms.

Beware that some of the cheapies on some auction sites are garbage.

JagV8 is right in what he has mentioned, there are plenty of fakes out there. I had a similar problem and thought it was the bulb. The Jaguar literature claims the bulb should last the life of the car, which I would believe. Mine ended up being the module. BUT it could also be the starter (what the bulb sits on). It is painful to test at home as you need to drop the bumper to access headlight removal, to access bulb on STR. Once dropped interchange parts with side that works in a process of elimination. Do not handle bulb with bare skin.

Default after 2 weeks of the dtring the STR

after drivivg the str now for a while i would have to say that the GTO is faster in all aspects. i've done light mods to it and its running about 425 to the wheels.

The Jag is such a quiet car that my first mod will be to cut the mufflers off. i need a little rumble. But what can i say, i love the Jag. what a drive and man with the S button on the car drive totally different. I'm going to have to race them together and just see who's fastest. i know the GTO will out run it. Been 168 in it, had pc work done.... Anyone know about the pulley price and install?

Yer GTO has 425 hp to the wheels? You'll need to do plenty to the STR to obtain those numbers. A K&N flat panel air filter in the stock air box, Qwiketz modded air intake tube, 3 lb. pulley, Magnaflow's 200 cell hi-flow cats and Tru-X center muffler (built-in x-pipe) will likely bring her to 450+ chp but the near 500 lb/ft torque should allow the STR to take the GTO off the line and possible through the 1/4 mile. We're very much looking forward to a twin screw blower that should put the STR solidly in the 600 chp (540 rwhp) range. Forum member Avos runs a stock 4.2 with a twin screw blower. It pounds out 635 chp (540 rwhp) with the stock exhaust and no ECU tune. Start massaging that STR. Be sure to give her a fresh fuel filter and perform a hard re-set of the ECU to purge adaptive learning.

I wish light mods for the STR could garnish another 100 whp like your GTO. High flow cats, 3# pulley and an intake only gets us about 40, but a big boost in torque. The 3# pulley is $245 from Eurotoys, plus the puller/install tool. I did the work myself, and I would highly recommend either having it done at a shop that's willing to take it on, or pull the whole supercharger out and sending it in and having it ported at the same time. If you want to take it on yourself, I wouldn't waste your time trying to use the puller to yank the old pulley off, just go straight to cutting it off. I'd only use the tool to run the new pulley on; although mine broke in the process (I believe they have remedied this issue now).

ya the GTO has a new intake, exhuast, and tuned. i love both cars but i think the Jag would out handle the GTO. the GTO is a srt8 line car. the jag will hit a on-ramp at 65 mph np problem.. :-)

For handling, I have to recommend the Proxes 4 tire. Very sticky UHP tire with a 50k warranty to boot. I'm on my third set, this last set being the first with a warranty. Congrats on the beautiful cat!

If its the line under the supercharger, send the supercharger out for a port/pulley while its off.
