Default New STR owner, a few questions...

Hey folks, I'm new here but I've been around performance cars for a long time, mostly German though...A couple turbo charged cars, this is my third supercharged.

I've been searching but I still have a few questions hopefully somebody can help me with.

1. Is the cam cover gasket for a 4.2 the same as for an R?
2. Do you have to take the intercooler off to get the gasket on correctly?
3. Is there a good write-up for taking the intercoolers and SC off?
4. What exactly are the "hoses" under the SC that often need to be replaced? Do you have part numbers, etc.
5. How long do the CATS bilsteins last? My car has 130k and i think they feel soft driving, pretty sure they are original.
6. I've seen one post about doing the rear wheel bearings, anybody else do it and is there a more detailed write-up?

I'm just used to Porsche and Audi forums where people go nuts with directions and pictures, etc. but it really makes it easy to do things yourself. I did notice there's a download for a parts manual and I need to try that at home. Does anybody have a downloadable service manual?

Thanks for all the help! I'm looking forward to hanging around here.

Andy

Here's something to start with, you may not be able to view all the attachments and pictures yet due to the new member restrictions.

You do

In general terms replacing the rear bearings is the same as the other S-Types.

Look for JTIS but again your post count is low as yet.

I think it's just one specific hose under the SC and I think the part # is in the thread. Don't be shy to try Search with that part # (or other things) in case it turns up something else useful. Just watch out that words 3-chars or fewer are ignored
(I posted a workaround but...)

Thanks I'll have to divide up my questions next time so I get more posts out of it. Hopefully I get to do more research over the weekend, I need to get the rear wheel bearings done.

Hop over to the off topic section, there are several "timewaster" threads that'll bump up the post count in no time.

Thanks, I've been working on the car, have it up on jacks with wheels, brakes, and rotors off. Maybe tomorrow I can get the hubs off... Between working, getting ready for coaching my son's baseball again, working on the car a little... I haven't had much time for posting.

Hopefully I can have this done by the weekend!
