Hello everyone, I have been looking over this forum for possible manual transmission swap for our AJV8 but from my readings there's none. I have read the old v12 engine and older model could be easily converted to a manual gear box. the Aston Martin Vanquish uses the same AJV8 and 6-speed gear box but why our 4.2L s-type couldn't have a manual option?

Can be done by a specialist and isn't cheap at all. You have to be very very keen. Almost no owner does it.

 

Installing the clutch and transmission would be the easy part. Convincing the computers to cooperate would be a nightmare.

 

I had the V12 in my '75 XJC and put in a jag 4 spd tranny with a laycock overdrive, getting rid of the truck tranny BW slush box. It was just a mechanical chore. Having owned an '03 STR for just about a couple of weeks and I'm already up to my *&^ in codes and acronyms and I can't realistically think anymore that a manual could be put into a modern S. These cars are just to highly engineered electronically.
