No start with a P0456?
Long time no talk Jaguar Forums! Hope all the members here are doing well. I have a problem with my 2005 Stype R and need some input. I noticed last week when i was driving and car would get a (hiccup) when driving. Driving find then it felt like for a second it was going to die and i saw the amber light on the dash flash really quick. So i made a appointment to have it looking at by my mechanic. I went to start the car this afternoon and i would crank but won't turn over.
I scanned the car with my scan tool and I'm getting a P0456 (VERY small leak) Evaporative Emission system leak detected. I notice last week i was looking under the hood i hear a pretty loud hissing sound coming from the right side of the engine bay. Plus after driving i would get a very brief but strong smell of gas only if I'm standing in the front of the car. What I'm thinking about the most is would a P0456 code cause a no start? Plus i just replaced the battery.

I'm doubtful it could cause those things. Flashing MIL = misfires so bad they're causing cat. conv. damage so do not keep allowing that to happen!
I'd do the usual fuel trim tests but first check it's running CL (closed loop).
It may be that P0456 is just the first thing to flag.

P0456 shouldn't keep the engine from starting.
I'd suggest checking the fuel pressure with your scanner. Turn the key to Run but not Start. The fuel pump should run momentarily to pressurize the injector rail.

Thanks for the comments! I'm having it towed into the shop today to see what's going on with it. Sadly I'm starting to think it might be a fuel pump problem.... :/. I'll keep you guys posted!
