I was reading a article about the carbon fiber rims and wonder how much does my 17x7.5 ,alloy 10 spoke weighed. I ask a seller and told me coming from dealer they were 28 lbs. I thought they weighed less, wonder if anybody else weighed theirs vs aftermarket wheels.

 

I have RoJa's on my Forester, forged and ~15# ea in 17".

28# make for good moorings. Maybe that's w/tires mounted?

 

15lbs!!! That's 13 lbs less on each axel, 52lbs in all. Maybe he did give me the wrong figures. I saw a video on guy who cracked his lightweight rims, but I think he hit something.

 

I would expect about 20 lbs.?

My Roja's have been perfect for 10 years & 80k, 50 series tires help with that for cushioning.

 

In my opinion the only wheels worth replacing due to weight are the steel 18s that come on the 2003-2004 STR. Those things are amazingly heavy. Thankfully Jag did what the whole car industry had been doing for years and replaced them with alloy wheels starting in 2005. Same goes for the S type hood, used to be steel, aluminum after 2005. I remember my 03 STR had the heaviest hood lol.
