Default Oil Pan Drain Plug Rubber Seals

Our local Jaguar dealership's parts department charges $4.25 each for these little rubber O-ring seals that should sell for around 25 cents apiece. Has anyone found a cheaper source out there that is an exact match? You don't want to be putting non-exact match rubber seals on your oil pan drain plug or you're asking for leaks in a heartbeat....

Jon89, would it be worth a trip to 1 of the BIG box home stores. I know that in the nut & bolt sections they have quite a selection of O rings. Just an idea.

You can re-use these o-rings... you definitely do not need to replace them each time you change your oil, I still have the original one from the factory.. But a local autoparts store should have a whole wall of drain plugs and o-rings right next to the oil section.. Eric

Yup...... same place as the screws and clips at good 'ol Autozone.. Umm Eric is right, don't need to change it every time.

Thanks for the replies.

I didn't change the O-ring. I didn't know it would be there, so I certainly didn't have a new one ready to go.

Yeah, I realize the hardware stores sell O-rings. The problem is that I don't have one to take with me for comparison purposes. The only one I have is back on my drain plug, holding in my newly-changed oil. That's why I asked if anyone has already specifically sourced this themselves so they can share the source and possibly the part number.

At worst case, I'll buy one from Jaguar and keep it for future comparison shopping purposes. But I haven't been back to Jaguar since we bought our S-Type on December 19th and have no reason to go back there until it's time for my last free service (the 40,000-mile one) which I'll do right before my factory warranty expires in mid-July. The dealership is 30 miles away in an area that I have no other need to travel to.

This can certainly wait until then. I'll add it to my "Warranty Expiration Punch List"....

I know this is an old thread but after doing a search no one listed the part number for just the o-ring. I was looking for the oil drain o-ring and my local dealership only carries the drain plug. I called Nalley’s, received the part number, and made my order. Thanks Nalley for the great service, club discount and free shipping.

Part number for just the o-ring is NCE1850AB

Glad you found the part number. I actually have never replaced a o ring on any car I owned, because I never had one leak from the drain plug.
I was always told if it isn't broke don't fix it or mess with it.
