One more sdd question what is the passive arming feature?
In the dealers option section there is a feature called passive arming feature as well as battery back to sounder and security sounder what are they and does my US car have these? I believe the battery back sounder is that speaker that’s up in the engine compartment by the antilock brake module and Im pretty sure that they are not available on American cars but what are those security sounders and passive arming feature features?
i was mainly looking for a description of what they are and what they do because the terminology wasnt familiar to me. but i found it passive arming will set the alarm (but not lock the doors) after a door is closed. automatically
arm the anti-theft system. Passive arming will automatically arm the alarm system 60 seconds after the driver’s door is closed, provided the passenger door, bonnet and luggage compartment are closed, the ignition is switched off and there are no valid Jaguar Smart Keys inside the vehicle.
It will also automatically arm the alarm system 60 seconds after the vehicle is unlocked, if neither door or the luggage compartment are opened.
Passive arming will not lock the vehicle, although access to the luggage compartment via the interior or exterior release buttons, will be inhibited and the fuel filler flap will be locked.
and the battery backup sounder is a worrisome and troublesome stand alone alarm that is mounted under the hood under the fusebox and it has its own batteries used in Europe but not in the US
