I'm on the fence when it comes to chrome. On some cars it makes sense, on others it doesn't..
I personally don't like it when someone tries too hard to make a base car look like an R...It just ends up looking like some "tuner" project gone wrong and cheapens the car.
On the other hand, I do think the base black grill on the early cars also looks kind of cheap as well.
So, it all depends on how you plan to brighten it up. If you are going to send it out to someone who does plastic plating, it should look pretty nice. If you are just going to tack on chrome strips, ummm, I wouldn't.
Just my opinion..

Thank you all sooo much!
I had that feeling from the start too...
I lived in Southern California and Hawaii for a great many years (USMC), and, at least in those days, chrome was definitely not "in".
So, with a polite *nod* to Caddy, its *no* chrome on the verticals
How about I black out *all* the chrome on the car? =O

I'm not a fan of chrome either. Just for the heckuvit, several weeks ago, I stopped by an auto body paint shop to see what it would be to paint the front and rear chrome strips and the entire grill and surround the body color. It was $325 for paint and labor. Since this is a lease car, I won't be doing it, just wanted to know.
