Default P0102/P0112 -Self-inflicted / Resolved

A careful search of the CEL codes in the S-type section will reveal that I took the coward's way out this summer in resolving my wife's P0171/P0174 codes on the 05 S-T 3.0L: After no-joy finding any vacuum leaks, I swapped the MAF sensor with the one in our daughter's 03 S-T 3.0L. No codes either car...but I was a bit trepedatious about "jr" taking the "faulty" MAF 350 mi. / 6 hrs away to school. Even so, I had commuted in it for a week this summer @100 mi/day, 85% highway, 15% stop-n-go with no problems. She reported-in last Wednesday evening for Fall Break with a low-beam bulb failure and departed back to school moments ago. I miss her already For greater access in replacing the H7 bulb, I removed the air box. I also restored all four headlight lenses and completed the "Brutal fix" on both sides. Time got pinched even though I took a vacation day Thursday figuring to rebuild the water-softener valve while most of the family was away from home at school and not using the water. I planned about 2.0 hrs and one trip to town for "waterworks." Actual turned out to be all day and 2 trips due to breakage of 3 of the 7 #10-24 fasteners holding it together. Anyway, it was Saturday evening before I finished with maintenance on the 03, fluids and tire press. checked good, yeah...better take it out in the dark and check/adjust the headlights and why not read codes just for giggles: Yikes! P0102 and P0112. But no CEL? THe table says it required two consecutive fails to set the CEL, so I know it is not continuously bad...so I went out this morning and cleared them...realizing I'd nearly sent my ELM 327 off to Louisiana with her!!!! As i continued to cogitate on it, I realized I had turned the key on to check new bulb operation, with airbox out and thus MAF unplugged! So still an hour before she leaves...I go grab the ELM 327, pop the bonnet, disconnect the MAF, turn key on, and voila` P0102 and P0112! Key off, replug, recheck to clear and they are no longer there. I reckon I had several key-on/key-off cycles while I worked the headlights, so maybe that explains that, I hope.

Now that she's headed back...it just hit me that I intended to do the visor vanity flap fix next time she was home! Ah well...guess I have plans for THanksgiving, now......

Ahhh ....I was feeling melancholy after my daughter left to go back to school.....No such thing as too much caffeine, Rick...only recognizable measure is "not enough!"

Thanks much to you and John for slogging through it. I just had a momentary panic-attack that I was sending her on a 6 hour drive with a bad MAF just so her mother doesn't get a yellow light and RP between here and Bridgeport every two weeks. To be honest, 3000 rpm is plenty of turns for her to get to and around town....still not terribly comfortable with the swap since Hannah's so far away....but both cars seem happy enough with the deal....
