P1383 variable cam timing overretarded
I am now getting the message variable cam timing overretarded (bank #1) or variable cam timing over advanced (bank #2) with code P1383 from my OBD reader, message resets ok but I now feel a very slight hunting when selected out of drive, but no pulsing shown on the rev counter. Still drives ok.
should I be concerned and any help on the remedy of this problem would be appreciated. It’s a petrol driven 2001 S type Jaguar.

P1383 and P1388 are not uncommon on the early V6 models. The following is a long thread with lots of good details and worth a read:
